It was a day filled with cheers, applause, and happy tears in Van ISD, as we surprised our 2023-2024 Teachers of the Year! Five of our exceptional educators were honored for their incredible dedication and impact on the lives of students. The winners include Kelly Killough (J.E. Rhodes Elementary), Kelli Airheart (Van Intermediate School), Angela Hardwick (Van Middle School), Crystal Whatley (Van Junior High), and Michael Brown (Van High School).
Each Teacher of the Year received a bouquet of flowers arranged by our high school floral design students, a yard sign, a plaque, and a $1,000 check from the Van ISD Education Foundation.
Mrs. Kelli Airheart put it best, when commenting on why she travels over 30 minutes each day for work, when she said, "A school that is alive is worth the drive."
Congratulations to Mrs. Killough, Mrs. Airheart, Mrs. Hardwick, Mrs. Whatley, and Mr. Brown on this well-deserved recognition! Van ISD is lucky to have you as part of the family. Here's to many more years of making a difference in the lives of our students!
