On Wednesday, May 17th, the Van High School Social Studies Team were named the UIL Conference AAAA State Champions!
The Van High School UIL Social Studies Team includes Megan Du Preez, Henry Jackson, Aiden Ragsdale, Reed Reynolds, Sydney Harker, and Starla Zarate.
The UIL Academic State Meet was held at the University of Texas in Austin. On the drive to Austin, the team stopped at Blue Bell Creamery for a scoop of ice cream, and later that evening, they caught a movie for a little relaxation. The next day, between study sessions, the team enjoyed some physical activity ice skating. Later that evening, they enjoyed some Italian food at Mandola’s Italian Kitchen.
Not only did the team win the state title, Megan Du Preez also placed 3rd individually! These students have worked hard all year long, studying and preparing, and that hard work paid off! Congratulations to these STATE CHAMPIONS, you have made Vandal Land PROUD!!
