Ava Hopson & Reggie Johnson pose together on the football field after being crowned homecoming king and queen

Please join us in congratulating our 2023 Homecoming King & Queen, Reggie Johnson & Ava Hopson!

Ava Hopson is the daughter of Chase and Jade Hopson. She is a member of the Mighty Vandal Band, serving as head majorette, and drum major. She is also a member of the Vandal softball and track teams, National Honors Society, and is in the Top 10% of her graduating class.

Ava's favorite homecoming tradition is twirling fire at the community bonfire. "Everyone thinks it's so cool," Hopson said, "and it's fun to see their reaction when we light the batons at the bonfire."

Ava has been a Vandal all of her life, starting in Van ISD in kindergarten! "The best part of being a Vandal is the hometown feel, and having a support system, regardless of what you are involved in," Hopson said.

After high school, Ava plans to attend UT Tyler's Medical School with hopes of becoming a nurse anesthetist.

Reggie Johnson is the son of Reggie Johnson and Ashanti Hallman, and is a member of the Vandal football, powerlifting, and track teams.

Reggie's favorite homecoming tradition is the parade and bonfire.  When asked what he loves about being a Vandal, Johnson said, "The best part about being a Vandal is being treated good and having a good educational program, and the teachers always make us believe that 'After High School Comes College'."

After high school, Reggie plans to become a real estate agent. He also would like to attend college and become a football coach one day, and maybe even an athletic director.

Homecoming Queen nominees also included Allyah Alston, Coco Brown, Presley Bryan, and Landry Jones.

Homecoming King nominees also included Tuff Arozamena, Ace Bostick, Trae Derrick, and Logan Fattig.

The Flower Girl and Crown Bearer were Tinsley Carpenter and Harlan Neill, who were both escorted by Mr. Bill Giles.
