4 students selected as best athletes of the year

We celebrated our annual Van Vandal Athletic Banquet on Monday night in the Van High School Cafetorium. This banquet is a great way to close out the year of athletics that our Vandals and Lady Vandals have participated in. Each sport is recognized with a highlight video, and the head coach of each sport chooses a Fighting Vandal and MVP award recipient based on their most recent season.

To conclude the program, Athletic Director Coach Jared Moffatt and Girls Coordinator Coach Ashton Carpenter announce the winners of the most distinguished award: Best All-Around Male/Female Athlete.

This year, each side selected two winners. On the boys' side, Tuff Arozamena and Cannon Rainey were selected. Tuff and Cannon both participated in football, powerlifting, and track. On the girls' side, Ava Hopson and Landry Jones were selected. Ava participated in twirling, softball, and track. Landry participated in basketball and volleyball this year.

Each of these students have put in a tremendous amount of time and effort to get to where they are today, and have led the Vandals to some important victories during their time in the red and white! We are proud of these four students and wish them the best as they enter the next chapter of their lives after graduation.
