Our very own doubles team, Maddy Medcalf and Brynlee Garcia are heading to the UIL State Tennis Tournament this week in San Antonio, TX! The pair qualified after playing some great matches at last week's Regional Tournament in Longview.
In 2 days they played 5 matches. They easily beat Alvarado in straight sets before moving on to beat Pleasant Grove, continuing their winning streak. Their last match of the day was against a good Wills Point team, but the Vandals were ready and won again! The next morning, they played for first or second place against the #1 Wills Point team, and lost in straight sets. At that point, the Vandals stood in second place, but as things would happen, they found themselves having to play the #1 Lindale team ina playback for 2nd and 3rd place. It was a hard fought battle! The match went into three sets with the Vandals dominating the third set with a 6-1 win!
This allowed the pair to advance to the UIL State Tennis Tournament in San Antonio, TX. They are set to play Thursday morning at 10:00 AM. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK, ladies!
