Welcome to Van Intermediate School! On our campus, we work together as a family to help students be successful academically, socially, and emotionally. We are here to help your child achieve their full potential. It is my role to help your student be the best they can be and that looks different for every student. If your student is in need of extra support of any kind or needs help with an issue they are facing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
The start of each new school year is a great time to look at our home routines. Parents and guardians play such an important role in their child’s attitudes about school. Make education a priority in your home by developing consistent homework routines, reading together daily, thoughtfully preparing for the next day, and adhering to bedtimes. Model the importance of being a lifelong learner for your child by showing them that you continue to learn new things and enjoy reading. Make time to talk with your child each evening about their school day...both the ups and the downs! Encourage them to believe in themselves and never give up.
Promoting college readiness is a major emphasis in our school district. Our campus is a member of the nationwide “No Excuses University” and our motto is “After High School Comes College!” We hope you will join us in encouraging all students to set high expectations and be prepared for college, even if they choose a different career path after high school.
We always welcome parents at our school and encourage parental involvement. Please let us know if you would like to be a parent volunteer...teachers always love extra help in the classroom! You are always welcome to attend our rallies, classroom events, school performances, volunteer in the classroom, and eat lunch with your child when you can. Research shows that children perform better at school when their parents are involved in school activities. Parents are a crucial part of our team at Van Intermediate. We are all in this together. It truly takes a village! Please contact me if I can be of any assistance to you or your student!
