Two of our health science practicum students at Van High School, Noelani Holly and Mayte Bahena Navarro, were surprised with scholarships from TJC and CHRISTUS Health's Rise Up Program!
In a pool of applicants from across East Texas, these students stood out and were handpicked as two of the 37 total scholarship recipients. The Rise Up program was developed as a partnership between CHRISTUS and TJC to educate high school students on different pathways in healthcare. The purpose of this scholarship is to empower and encourage students interested in healthcare careers to achieve their academic goals.
Both students received $1,200 to use toward furthering their education at TJC. The scholarships are renewable each year if students remain in good standing with the college. We are so proud of these two students, and we're grateful that the CTE program at Van High School provides our Vandals with such great opportunities! Congratulations, Noelani and Mayte!
